Today, more and more children are growing up with a parent missing. Children are growing up without the influence and guidance of responsible fathers and father figures, which play a large part in the increasing numbers of family disintegration. As a response to this unfortunate shift, fatherhood initiative programs are being formed to encourage, equip and empower fathers and father figures to take an active part in the lives of their families, especially in the lives of children.
Fatherhood programs not only help fathers learn how to become more present and involved in the lives of their children. These programs are designed to help entire families achieve stability and economic success by providing training seminars, job fairs and job retention and advancement programs for fathers and the entire family. This addresses the issues of joblessness and poverty that are often the root causes of broken families, especially in urban areas. Empowering fathers by helping them become more sufficient allows them to learn how to care for the family and brings back that sense of pride in the responsibility that they can now carry. It also raises the likelihood of fathers staying at home and providing the needed guidance and influence desperately needed by their children.
