Toyota Etios Cross Vs Hyundai Grand i10 : Which Car is best for your Family

Toyota the well-known Japanese carmaker had launched a crossover car, Etios Cross a few months ago. Here is an attempt to compare it with the Hyundai Grand i10, a popular hatchback from the Korean carmaker, Hyundai Motors.

Hyundai Grand i10 (Era 1.2 Kappa VTVT) is priced at 4.32 lakh rupees, whereas the Etios Cross comes with a price tag ranging from 5.76 lakh to Rs. 7.4 lakh rupees. I you go by the price factor alone, the Hyundai car looks more attractive an option than the Toyota car.

Etios Cross shares the same underpinnings as its sibling Liva and it is slightly bigger than the Liva in all aspects as it is 3895 mm in length, 1735 mm width and 1555 mm in height. On the other hand, the Grand i10 is 3765 mm long, 1660 mm wide and 1520 mm tall. The Toyota car is bigger in all aspects than its Hyundai counterpart.

Etios cross has a silver grill guard and side moldings on the top of the plastic, and silver guards on the front and rear bumpers and silver roof rails. The car comes with a different set of headlamps and the turn indicators are placed above the fog lamps. The grille is mightier and straighter on the Etios Cross. In addition, the Etios Cross has a rear roof spoiler and 15-inch alloy wheels. Alternatively, the Grand i10 comes with features like Electric Power Steering, Manual AC with Heater, Tinted Glass, Front Power Outlet, Front Power Windows, Remote boot and Internally Adjustable ORVMs.

Although the Etios Cross is a crossover and Grand i10 is a hatchback, both cars come with a seating capacity of five. Both these cars offer a comfortable ride to the passengers. Although compact, these cars do not lack in comfort and luxury.

The Etios Cross come in a new color scheme, inferno orange and features all black interiors unlike the Liva, which has grey and red interiors. Available in three engine options – 1.5 L 90 bhp DOHC petrol, 1.2 L 80 bhp DOHC petrol and 1.4 L 68 bhp diesel D-4D – with mileages of 23 kmpl. The power mill of Grand i10 generates a power of 83 PS @6000rpm and a torque of 114 Nm @4000rpm. It is coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. The mileage offered by Grand i10 is around 16 kmplon the city roads, whereas on highways, it is at 19 kmpl.

From the above details, it can be said that for those people with financial constraints, the Hyundai Grand i10 would be a preferable choice due to its lower pricing. Also, being the smaller car of the two, Hyundai Grand i10 can be easily driven around in the city.
